This example presents a FLAC model that demonstrates a recommended procedure to simulate seismic loading of an embankment dam. This includes calculations for (1) the state of stress prior to seismic loading, (2) the reservoir elevation and groundwater conditions, (3) the mechanical behavior of the foundation and embankment soils, including the potential for liquefaction, and (4) the site-specific ground motion response.
